Ratiwatanas wait to hear W'don fate
Injured Sanchai Ratiwatana and brother Sonchat were left hoping that fate will deliver them a seventh consecutive Wimbledon entry after they were forced to forfeit their finalround qualifier at the All England Club on Wednesday.
Sanchai injured his back during practice on Tuesday, forcing him to retire from the match against Germany's Matthias Bachinger and Tobias Kamke. But the twins are hoping for a quick recovery plus a spot as "lucky losers" in the Grand Slam, which starts on Monday.
"It happened because of a bad bounce. I pulled a back muscle and decided I should not play the match,'' said Sanchai who suffered the same kind of injury in a Davis Cup tie against South Korea last year.
"But because we are No 2 seed, there's a big possibility of us getting into the main draw as lucky losers. Players always withdraw,'' said Sanchai. The twins have appeared as "lucky losers" in every main draw since 2006. Their best run at Wimbledon is a thirdround berth in 2010.
