Ratiwatanas storm past Ukrainians
Thai men's duo Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana upset Dmitry Tursunov of Russia and Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4 in the first round of the men's doubles on Thursday.
The Thai twins, who withdrew from Wimbledon qualifying after Sanchai picked up a back injury last week, were promoted to the main draw as "lucky losers".
Also on Thursday, the women's doubles first round saw Tamarine Tanasugarn and Marina Erakovic of New Zealand trounce Shuai Peng and Jie Zheng of China 6-2 6-2. They were due to take on Poland's Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Alicja Rosolska last night.
