Background

Tesco Lotus is committed to helping the community in three areas of education, health and the environment. Since 2006 the company has partnered with the British Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (BCCT) to organize the Tesco Lotus Bangkok Masters tournament, an interbnational 7-a-side format drawing teams from Australia, Canada, UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Thailand.

Concurrently, Tesco Lotus has organized the Tesco Lotus Football Clinics with the aim of encouraging exercise through the sport of football, the world's most popular sport. They also allow underprivileged kids to learn football skills from global legends at Tesco Lotus stores.

In 2008, Tesco Lotus will continue the Tesco Lotus Football Clinics for the third year, and will bring the project under its Community health initiative, Get Healthy with Tesco Lotus. The event will be extended from Communities to Customers with two special activities:

*Tesco Lotus Football Clinics – Global stars teaching football skills to 120 underprivileged Thai kids at Tesco Lotus Chiang Mai Khamtieng and Tesco Lotus Salaya Green Store.
*Tesco Lotus Friendly Match – British football legends such as Ian Rush, Peter Reid and Viv Anderson take on Thai stars led by "Zico" Kiatisak Senamuang at Nimitbut Stadium of the National Stadium

Schedule of Activities

* Ian Rush, legendary ex-Liverpool striker, will lead a team of former English League players to take on a team of former Thai international players and entertainment stars led by "Zico" Kiatisak Senamuang in the Tesco Lotus Supermatch 2008 on Friday May 30, 2008 from 1600 hours onwards at the Nimibut Stadium of the National Stadium

* Liverpool legend Ian Rush and Everton hero Peter Reid will be holding clinics to teach football to underprivileged Thai youngsters. The Tesco Lotus Football Clinics will be held on Wednesday May 28 at Tesco Lotus Chiang mai Khamtieng stiore, and on Saturday May 31 at Tesco Lotus Salaya store from 1300 hours onwards.

* Special privilege for Tesco Lotus customers: Exchange a receipt of purchases in Tesco Lotus of 200 baht upwards for two tickets to the Tesco Lotus Supermatch to be held on Friday May 30, 2008 from 1600 hours onwards at the Nimibut Stadium of the National Stadium.
Make the exchange at the customer service point of any Tesco Lotus hypermarket from May 22-28 (ticket availability is limited). The first 500 to bring a receipt of 500 baht upwards will receive a free football signed by the stars.
