However. Peace. The takeover of government house was peaceful and part of the democratic norm which gives disenfranchised people the ‘option’ of “peaceful civil disobedience”. You cannot compare Thailand to other countries, because each countries’ political maturity, awareness, and experience are different from each other. Other countries might even use the political process and seen in Thailand these past 100+ days as an example of democracy at work. Thailand’s system of democracy is far from perfect and the country has to find its own way.

Would you prefer bloodshed and rioting that we see in other countries and use their way of democracy as an example to follow?

I actually agree with ‘not disappointed’; Thailand is where it is at this juncture because of one man – Thaksin Shinawatra. And only one man can heal the country by his unselfish self-sacrifice by doing the right and ethical thing. Please Thaksin; leave the country alone. Let its people find peace.

Peace and thailand lover, you guys seem to be a more rational than most of those here, especially those who blindly support a return to parliamentary dictatorship and accept corruption as a given, as a way of life.

In a democratic system in which the people are politically aware and understand their collective responsibility there would be no vote buying, no vote selling, and no manipulation of the uneducated and politically uninformed masses like there is here in Thailand. The mantra that the PPP frequently cite as their “right” to rule, due to a so-called “majority” is absurd and a farce.

There is no majority per se when the minority voice holds no meaning to those in power. The right to administer a country includes all people not just those who gave you their votes. Good governance must hold tight to unselfish ideals combine with an adherence to ethics and morality.

To say that corruption is a way of life and that no matter the governing party it will remain so; is just an abdication of the basic democratic rights by you and others. Any benefit that the poor receive is meager as compared to the amount of graft that was siphoned during the thaksin regime. Everyone must become involved with saying NO to selfish governance that seeks to enrich any politician. There can be no TRADEOFF. Governance is for the people only and it’s the people rights to receive and expect good conduct from their representatives.

It’s not acceptable to say that it’s OK for the politicians to be corrupt as long as the people are taken care off. NO it’s not OK for our public servants to take office to enrich themselves and set themselves above the rule of law and be a power unto themselves.

as a matter of fact. Every single Thai person can file a lawsuit against PAD.

 wake up  10/09/08 13:31     [ IP : 203.156.68.97 ]

not to forget to mention.
PAD is not here for political reason but for something like in 1992 an oil waggon to torch down tax revenue building.

But since that doesn't work, because of hitec now they're seeking to overthrow the whole system so that they can grab the data and destroy as partially already done in the govt house.

Most of the PAD people seeking millions that way ... like in 1992

Hi arun, I am not too sure if your suggestions are good for the country. Firstly, if u have too many parties forming a coalition govt (worse still, have loggerhead parties forming one), will the govt ever be able to function? Every single major decision will be debated and barbequed till its overcooked as each party tries to push for what its priorities. Indeed, the govt will be crippled because its internally-divided. How can a nation take direction from such an executive body? I feel that the opposition should just remain in parliament as MPs as an external check on the govt.

Secondly, there are drawbacks to a federation system. Look at what is happening to Malaysia. Some state govt’s get more attention (and hence more funds) than others. After some years this problem will jus ferment into a perfect storm, because you have people who feel they have been treated like lower lifeforms. Another problem is that the country might not develop on an equal footing.

But then again, there are pro’s and con’s to every system. If the semi-draconian system that the PAD is proposing can be implemented with the proper safeguards, and we can ensure that only responsible and well-intentioned people get into parliament, then I say by all means do it. Because as it is, I see Thailand collapsing under democracy.

And ‘not disappointed’, jus wat is it with thaksin that u guys hate him so? Can u provide some concise reasons that should make u hate him more than u hate the typical corrupt (and vote-buying of course) politician? Up till now I still don’t see why bangkokians should detest him so, even though I myself am from the South, which thaksin pretty much neglected during his tenure. The only thing I see is that thaksin has improved the livelihoods of the rural poor, lifted our economy, gave Thailand international reputation, truly fought the drug trade, etc…

samaksin has had his days in the sun after becoming the accidental PM. Now its time to go into retirement for the sake of the nation and for his family.

BTW, Peace. The PAD demonstration have for initial 100 days was pretty peaceful until the ‘red-shirted mob’ was incited to violence by members of the 3ps and its ministers. Haven’t you tried to notice and open your eyes to this coincidence? PAD hold peaceful rallies – ‘red-shirts’ attack and create a riot.

Whether the PAD leaders are to be arrested or not, or whether they turn tthemsleves in or not, is a matter for the authorities to decide and for the PAD leaders to decide themselves. I would prefer that the PAD leaders turn themselves in ‘after’ thaksin is put down for good.

All of this turmoil and its continuation, has been caused by one selfish self-serving individual – thaksin shinawatra. Pushing the buttions from his safe haven in London while his ‘beloved’ country faces devisiveness, social rift, and damge to the economy. For our problems to end thaksin MUST refrain from any further activities that will destabilize the situation. If he really cared for the Kingdom, he must act as a conciliator not a destabilizer.

Finally, I thought that cholburi pad had given you enough ‘proof’ and examples. But of course it’s never enough for thaksin supporters. Proof must be shown for the minutest detail.

PADs, are you happy now after hearing the verdict? It is time to pack your belongings and head home. The government building is not a free hotel. Go home and wait for your consequences. If the court system is truly justifiable, you're next in line to be jailed (hahahaha)...

 thailand lover  10/09/08 07:58     [ IP : 137.132.250.9 ]

i don know about u guys, but the comments here making less sense as the days go by.. its becoming a virtual mob out here. i don think we want another mob on our hands, do we?

i would jus like to urge everyone that before you use those vulgarities to hurt others, remember that those people too have a family. n like you, there are people who love them enough to give birth to them and raise them. lets be kind to all like we would be kind to ourselves.

All we are asking is that the PAD hold its protest and demonstrations in a lawful manner, and to submit themselves to the rule of law. Even if you have an opinion that you think everyone will agree to, that does not give you the right to disregard the laws of the land, to disrupt public order, and to bring chaos to a country which you share with 63 million others. Had the PAD chosen a less aggressive platform to voice their opinions, I am sure they would have won over more hearts and minds, especially the peace-loving majority (and I must say some of the things the PAD are asking for are not that out-of-this-world). Change does not necessarily need to materialize through force alone.

Appologise to Issan, thats a laugh, with exeption of 25%,what have they contributed to Thailand exept flat nosed tarts for the sex trade.Nasty little bitches they are too,as anyone with a Ferang chum who married one can confirm.Suppose the money they send to Dad goes towards road safety,it keeps him pissed under the house, hence he cant reach the Pik Up,the Ferang bought for services rendered.Loose Face, they have no shame. That should wind the Liberall Wimps up.

By the way, has anyone noticed that I tend to bring out the very best from the hyena pack. All you have to do is look at the quality of the retorts and attacks against me. Oh, I meant say; take a look at the quality of the “retards” who try so hard to attack me.

It started out with 203.156 almost making some semblance of lucidity, but after my return to the poll he has begun to digress back to hia hyena ways.

3ps luke krogs are not long for this world. The fridge was put in cold storage. Their master has fled. Their nominal leader the cook was kicked out of the kitchen and will soon be able to indulge his passion by teaching cooking classes in prison. newin and surapong have shown their true colors and master is not best pleased. There is in-fighting within 3ps and the situation is spiraling out of control. 3ps will no longer be a major party after it is disbanded and newin will finally be left with his “friends”. What can master do to salvage the situation? September is turning to be a good month for house cleaning. October will see the 3ps trash swept out.

I bet sq face will do a deal, for someone outside of his party, from a smaller party, to lead a government of reconciliation (which will include the Democrats) in the hopes of exile, return of a portion of his ill-gotten money, and finally an amnesty is he is a good boy. Like Gen. Thanom he will be allowed back after a few years. And he would be getting of lightly.

 not disappointed  10/09/08 01:33     [ IP : 125.24.135.130 ]

Everyone seems to have overlooked a portion of the statement read by the Constitutional Court in its verdict of the dog-mouthed cook. The Court stated that the cook had given false statement and had falsified backdated evidence. And this is from a man who his supporters misunderstood the Constitution. Sound familiar? His master the sq face liar in his misunderstanding, also made an “honest mistake” by using his drivr and maid as his nominees to hold his shares on his behalf.

Even were smaksin to be voted back by the “majority” he will lose it again at the end of the month when he is convicted of defamation and sent to prison. Oops that’s two guilty verdicts and losing his seat twice in one month. That would mean that the cabinet will also lose the seats again.

It’s not whether its wrong or not that he takes his personal passion for cooking to the airwaves; its that by doing so as a sitting PM, he doesn’t dignify the position of PM with his selfish self-interest. It’s not a question of whether he can be voted back in or not, as the law doesn’t disallow it; it’s whether morally and ethically he should come back and whether his party loyalist have the moral and ethical capacity to understand and differentiate between the two.

Samaksin - the nominee and puppet of PHT, who said "I will not resign and I will not dissolve the parliament," is finally kicked out. That was an unanimous decision of 9-0. Head of the numnao govt is out because of his mouth. Lukekrogs are now looking for a new leader. That will be chapter 2, so Bravo encourage the PADs to stay put and fight for better society.

That's what I call justice. The heat of the court's kitchen was too much for the cook. and so that is two low life PMs that have bitten the dust. Happy days are almost here again.
