Thailand informs China that it revokes Thaksin's diplomatic passport
Thai government informed China on Thursday that it has decided to revoke diplomatic passports of deposed prime minister
Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife, Khunying Pojaman, implying that they needed to request visa to stay in China.
Thai Foreign Minister Nitya Pibulsongkram relayed the message to his Chinese counterpart, Li Zhaoxing during a bilateral meeting on the sideline of
Asean Summit in Cebu, Philippines.
Thaksin is now in Hong Kong.
Thai government decided to revoke red passports of the deposed prime minister and his wife after Thaksin's activities abroad were considered politically motivated.
To revoke his diplomatic passport meant that
Thaksin has to apply for entry visa to a foreign country. A diplomatic passport allowed its holder to enter 50 countries without a visa.
