Yala - Insurgents shot at five villagers inside a forest in this southern border province Sunday morning.

The five villagers were collecting edible plants in the forest in Tabukeh village in Tambon Bacho of Bannang Sata district at 6:55 am when they were attacked.

Three of them escaped unhurt.

The slain victim was identified as Apichai Rattananoi, 34.
