The National Anti-Corruption Commission has found that Deputy Boonjong Wongtrairat had done nothing wrong when chairing the ceremony to hand out cash to 200 poor people in Nakhon Ratchasima's Chokchai district, NACC spokesman Klanarong Chanthik said Tuesday.
Klanarong said the NACC had conducted an investigation and found that Boonjond did not abused his authority to seek popularity as charged by the Pheu Thai Party.
The Pheu Thai alleged that Boonjong attached his name card to the cash handed out to the poor.
But the NACC found that Boonjong did not attach his name card with the cash handouts but he simply gave his name card to the cash recipients who asked for the cardds.
The NACC also found that the cash handouts to help the 200 poor people each of Bt500 were allocated before Boonjong took office and the Social Development Office in the district simply invited Boonjong to chair the ceremony.
