PM holds meeting of security agencies on deep South

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday called a meeting with security concerned agencies to wrap up situation in the deep south as opposition Pheu Thai Party's chief advisor Chavalit Yongchaiyud planed to visit the restive region today.

Chavalit repeated his proposal to make the deep south as a special administration for local people to have a certain degree of self-ruling. Dubbed as Pattani City, Chavalit said the autonomy would be a form of local administration, perhaps similar to Chiang Mai.

Abhisit said the meeting with security officials early morning yesterday had nothing to do with Chavalit's plan to visit the deep south.
