Udon Thani police chief to be fired from service for allowing red shirts to attack PAD demonstrators

A police disciplinary committee Thursday voted to fire Udon Thani police chief Pol Maj Gen Permsak Paradornsak from police service for failing to stop red-shirt people from assaulting yellow-shirt demonstrators in a rally there.

The crash between the red-shirt people and demonstrators led by the People's Alliance for Democracy took place on July 24 2008.

The disciplinary committee decided to recommend Permsak's dismissal after the National Anti-Corruption Commission found that he had committed a grave disciplinary offence for failing to prevent the clash between the two sides.
