Suchart to be fired from police service over Oct 7 bloody crackdown
Pol Lt Gen Suchart Muenkaew, commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 4, was Thursday recommended to be fired from police service for alleged malfeasance related to the crackdown on protesters in front of Parliamnent on October 7 2008.
A disciplinary committee decided to recommend Suchart's dismissal after the National Anti-Corruption Commission resolved to seek criminal action against Suchart for his role in the crackdown against protesters led by the People's Alliance for Democracy.
One woman was killed and 51 other protesters were severely injured when police fired teargas canisters into the crowds that day.
