University presidents to consider admission criteria

The University Presidents Council of Thailand (UPCT) will consider how best to adjust university-admission criteria and related system this Saturday.

"The information from public hearings will be put before UPCT at its upcoming meeting," Deputy Education Minister Chaiwuti Bannawat said Monday.

According to him, every party involved want the ratio of seats earmarked for central university admission and direct admission to stand at 50:50.

Currently, universities have earmarked just 30 per cent of available seats to the central-university admission system.
