Up-coming festival, promising parties and more

Ayuthaya is hosting a spectacular cultural show

Never miss a flight

If you have to by awake by 2am for an 8am flight at Suvarnabhumi Airport, you probably need the Best Western Premier Amarant.

A 10minute ride to the departure terminal, the new hotel lets you sleep a little longer, and free shuttle buses are waiting.

Its 278 rooms are decorated in "Thai contemporary" style with modern Western refine?ments, far more luxurious than a typical airport hotel. There's a large pool and a gym with stateoftheart fitness equipment and the relaxing Ama Spa.

The Outrigger says hello!

Phuket's Outrigger Serenity Terraces Resort (www.Outrigger.com) is now open, with rooftop suites that have their own lap pools with 360degree views of the Andaman Sea.

The luxury resort's landscaping, just completed last month, is stunning.

"All aspects of Outrigger Serenity Terraces are now comfortably in place ahead of the hol?iday season," says general manager Albert Chan.

A little jazz for Christmas

The Anond Jazz Quartet will perform a free concert for the Siam Society on December 23.

Members of the quartet, augmented by a singer, are graduates of Mahidol University's College of Music and have become well known for their energetic shows and easy takes on bossa nova, funk, swing, pop, R&B and reggae, as well as jazz. The door opens at 7pm. Donations are welcome.

Ayutthaya in all its glory

Ayutthaya is hosting a spectacular cultural show until December 20, invoking its illustri?ous centuries as the capital of Siam before Bangkok's rise. The city's historical park, a Unesco World Heritage site, is the setting for reenactments of royal court ceremonies, com?plete with elephants and horses, a lightandsound show and much more.
