JICA loans Bt1.65 bn to Thailand

The Finance Ministry today signed the deal to borrow Bt1.65 billion from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to finance the pipewater network expansion in Bangkok.

The 15-year contract contains 5 years of grace period.

Japan government via JICA and Thai Finance Ministry are also currently discussing about soft loans for two projects. While the US$500 million (about Bt16.5 billion) loan to finance the construction of Purple Line mass transit is expected to be signed in September, it expects to sign $100 million to finance a flyover bridge construction over the Chao Phya River in March.
