There's plenty of fun for music and food fans this weekend, as the Fat Festival adopts an Indian-style atmosphere for its ninth annual outing.
"It's definitely more special than in previous years," says Pongnarin "Jong" Ulice, programme director of 104.5 Fat Radio. "Not only have we upped the ante to five stages but we've told each of the artists to bring a guest.
"And it's going to be really attractive too, as it also features a gigantic work of art measuring 300 metres in width and 10 metres in length, which is equal to the size of the hall's wall," he adds.
In line with the Indian theme, the five stages sport Indian names, with the main one dubbed "Dhoom Dhoom" after the hit Bollywood musical and featuring such well-known acts as Lipta, Paradox, Po Yokee Playboy, Crescendo, The Richman Toy, Apartment Khunpa, Playground, Tattoo Colour, Friday, and Groove Riders.
"Majare" is the platform for electronica and hip-hop artists featuring Red 20, Ball Jarulak, Ta-Mone, Skalaxy, Da Jim, Tete, Phumijit, Mocca Garden and artists from Smallroom 007.
Places everyone
"Hutcha" is the place to gather for those who prefer easy-listening sounds with performances by Klerm Samakhom, Bell Supol, Mint Athawadee, Lula & Luke Wa, Gene Mahasamut, Monotone, Yellow Fang, Pramote Vilepana, Yarinda Bunnag, Rose Sirinthip, Mild, Stamp, Jetsetter plus alumni from "Academy Fantasia".
Dance music fans should head to "Ramasing" where the line-up includes Jofax, Gold Red, Supersub, Krungthep Marathon, Koy-Yong & Friends, Ornaree, Brandnew Sunset, Jui Juis, Slot Machine, Sweet Mullet, Klear, Lomosonic, Ebola, Lemon Soup, Praow, See Tao Ther, Kai-Jo Brothers, Teddy Ska Band and Knock The Knock.
Last but not least is Harem, which is being designed as a giant bedroom for artists from Bedroom Studio.
The festival also features several zones like "Halay Wangka" with its 300 booths hosted by music and movie labels, "Maha Samut Indie", where visitors can stock up on books, Bollywood, which is all about Indian movies, and "Mataba", where stalls offer a feast of great Indian food.
