Over eight years of its operation in Thailand, Asiasoft has invented and developed a variety of online games to address consumer requirements. In 2002, the company has worked with Korea-based Gravity Corporation to localize and publish Ragnarok Online, a popular massively multiple player role playing game in Thailand. The Thai Ragnarok Online became a big hit with over one million registered players only after a year of introduction.
Asiasoft views technology as an important means of improving business processes and strengthening its leadership in Thailand's digital content and online game market. It has invested to build a strong and manageable IT infrastructure, leveraging on IBM BladeCenter's cutting edge technology that enables the onlline game provider to enhance efficiency and better service to their customers, while having a positive effect on the environment and running a more cost-effective operation. The new IT Infrastructure has provided Asiasoft with increased flexibility in their data center for deploying applications, enhanced reliability and decreased risk from power outages, reduced energy-related costs and enhanced economic competitiveness.
"To address demanding customer requirements, we meticulously invest in efficient IT solutions that deliver quick ROI and fast implementation," said Sunt Rojpornwatana, IT Director, Asiasoft Corporation. "We don't want to wait until the economy fully recovers. We want to upgrade our IT infrastructure today so as to get prepared for market growth. Specifically, we have deployed high-density servers that help improve our online game services today and scale to meet evolving business demands in the future," Rojpornwatana added.
"Over the last eight years, we have used many servers from different vendors to power our online game platforms. And today we selected IBM BladeCenter to host popular online games from Fun Box and Audition. The powerful IBM BladeCenter enables our online users to play games smoothly. As these high-density servers are smaller in size, we can pack more servers into the same space, boosting overall performance for our infrastructure. Moreover, IBM BladeCenter consumes less power, so we get more computing power from these space-saving, manageable servers without any additional costs. And more importantly, we can rely on IBM's world-class, high-quality technical services," added Rojpornwatana.
Tanapong Ittisakulchai, Country Manager, System and Technology Group, IBM Thailand said, "IBM Blade server technology is proven to assist organizations in driving down operating and maintenance expenses, allowing for lower total cost of ownership, reduced data center space requirements, lower energy consumption, and streamlined data center management. We are delighted to be working with Asiasoft to help them optimize and transform their IT operation to provide better services and experience for their customers."
IBM's new-generation BladeCenters
Introduced earlier this year, IBM BladeCenter HS22 provides outstanding performance with support for the latest Intel Xeon 5500 processors, as well as IBM's exclusive technologies including two-socket architecture. This easy-to-manage server allows clients to run all of their diverse workloads inside a single architecture, with a capacity to scale and adapt to meet specific requirements and address business growth.
IBM BladeCenter HS22 incorporates virtualization, which helps reduce energy costs by up to 93%. It supports a wide range of storage systems, with backward compatibility for previous models of BladeCenter servers.
Apart from outstanding computing power, IBM's new BladeCenter servers integrate cutting-edge systems management technologies including Integrated Management Module (IMM), next-generation BIOS -- Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), and IBM Systems Director 6.1, which improve management of physical and virtual servers.
