Nutrition -at-school campaign takes off

The S-26 children's-nutrient line of Wyeth (Thailand), in partnership with the National Food Institute, has kicked off the "Hygienic Kitchen: Food - Safe Schools" campaign.

The goal is to promote better hygiene and nutrition among students.Further support is being provided by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Education and Public Health ministries.

S-26 also supports the government's "Super School - Super Milk" programme as a way of reinforcing its mission of promoting the consumption of hygienic and nutritious food.

Viriya Chongphaisal, managing director of Wyeth (Thailand), whose S-26 products have been part of child nutrition for more than 90 years, said: "The National Food Institute has worked closely with S-26 to launch the 'Hygienic Kitchen: Food - Safe Schools' rogramme.

The goal is to promote hygiene via the schools. This initiative is also intended to encourage good nutrition as a path to good health and development for children. Today, nutritional imbalances have become critical to children of all ages and will likely become more severe.

Growing children need sufficient nutrients to ensure proper physical and intellectual development.

"School is like a second home for children. In-school activities directly influence students' development.

The 'Hygienic Kitchen: Food - Safe Schools' campaign will help parents and schools improve in-school food standards by providing advice and renovating food-preparation areas at all pilot schools, to ensure they meet hygiene and safety standards.

Moreover, the initiative will provide knowledge about food safety and catering practices."

The "Hygienic Kitchen: Food -Safe Schools" campaign is a publicprivate sector collaboration aimed at raising food quality standards for students, thereby promoting their

growth and development and ultimately turning them into better citizens.
