University admission results out



For the latest batch of university student hopefuls, the wait is over: the Office of Higher Education Commission (Ohec) has announced results of the central university-admission system on several web sites.

Students can check the results at www.cuas.or.th and on 17 other web sites. They can also dial 0-2576-5555 and 0-2576-5777 to get results through a call centre.

Deputy Education Minister Chaiwuti Bannawat said yesterday 82,579 of 119,446 applicants sailed successfully through the central university-admission system this year.

Successful applicants are required to undergo an interview and checkup between May 13 and May 15.

Under the central university-admission system, the highest score stood at 89.24 per cent, achieved by Triam Udom Suksa student Rawin Herabat. He has chosen to join Chulalongkorn University's (CU) Faculty of Law.

Second with 88.41 per cent, Kanyarat Artchon from Wattana Wittaya Academy, who has applied to the CU Faculty of Arts.

Third-highest scorer,Tatchaphon Petchsiriphan, achieved 87.71 per cent. From Triam Udom Suksa School, he is now preparing to be a freshman at CU Faculty of Engineering.

Boonyada Plangsiri, also a student of Triam Udom Suksa, was close behind with 87.54 per cent and plans to study at CU Faculty of Communication Arts.

In fifth place with 87.07 per cent, Sasilada Sirirungruang from Triam Udom Suksa School. CU Faculty of Science is where she intends to further her education.

Sixth highest scorer, Nanticha Ruangchainikhom from Phitsanulok's Chalermkwansatree School,with 83.07 per cent, expects to enrol at the CU Faculty of Dentistry.

In seventh place, Kornkawin Pichayayothin of Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School. He scored 82.21 per cent.

And close behind was Thirawi Kuradechpop from Phitsanulok Phittayakhom School with 82.12 per cent. He plans to study at the CU Faculty of Political Science.

Ninth placed Sasipong Leeyawattananupong from Triam Udom Suksa School achieved 81.97 per cent and is the top applicant to CU Faculty of Economics.

Tenth highest scorer this year,Poonsap Areekij from Benjamarachutit School Ratchaburi. Her score stood at 81.55 per cent.

Chaiwuti said many state and private universities are looking to recruit more students.

For students who have failed in the central university-admission system, he advises, "Check for further information on the Ohec web site."
