Land for farmers to go to Cabinet

The Finance Ministry will next week seek Cabinet approval to reallocate 1 million rai of state-owned land to farmers under long-term leases.

The Treasury Department alone has 114 plots with a combined area of 452,162 rai that could be reallocated for integrated farming schemes.

However, only 27 plots totalling 190,886 rai are ready to be handed over at this stage.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet will be asked to approve a Bt2.7-billion budget to pay for interest expenses on loans granted to 119,235 farm households hit by natural disasters last year.
