Parts maker pressed to pay terminated workers

Over 800 subctracted workers of Single Point Part Plc on Thursday blocked the entrance to the company's plant in Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya, demanding for compensations.

Nittaya Bunthavong, one of the subcontracted workers, said that the workers received only Bt500 each when the subcontract was terminated.

Labour Permanent Secretary Somchai Chumrat said he would seek discussions with companies which hired outside workers on compensation schemes, to help the subcontracted workers in case of termination. He noted that some companies are not in the position to pay compensations.
