Due to the New Year holidays, red-shirted protesters suspended their demonstration in front of Parliament last night after declaring victory against the government.
"We'll have a small party tonight and disperse after midnight so that we can take time to celebrate the New Year festival," said Veera Musigapong, a leader of the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship.
He said the DAAD would stage more rallies after New Year's to demand the Democrat-led government dissolve the House and scrap the Asean Summit.
A tussle broke out at Parliament in the morning when the protesters prevented police from pushing open Thewarit Gate from the inside. A few women fainted during the scuffle.
The DAAD supporters have camped out in front of Parliament for three days, forcing the government to use the Foreign Ministry to deliver its policy statement to parliamentarians.
