House speaker advises against hasty move to pick PM

House Speaker Chai Chidchob on Thursday urges MPs to think things through instead of rushing to elect the prime minister.

"A hasty decision to name the next prime minister might trigger a new round of political conflict," Chai said.

He said he is uncertain that the extraordinary House session can convene on Monday as speculated since the royal decree on the matter has yet to be finalised.

He said in his opinion, there is no harm done if the naming of the prime minister is delayed in order to ensure the resumption of normacy and reconciliation.

He also dismissed the speculation that he has been aspiring for premiership.
