Santi insists private sector proposal is neutral

Federation of Thai Industries Chairman Santi Vilassakdanont admitted on Wednesday that the proposal to let other parties to lead the government formation may not be warmly welcomed.

He insisted that this is just a proposal from the business community. He said the community wished some parties to switch their side, as keeping the coalition intact, they would face resistance as that guarantees the return of old ministers.

Santi said that if domestic conditions are not under control, damage to the entire nation would be grave as impacts of the global crisis are increasing.

"It's just the proposal. We do not take side of any party. In the past, we refrained from comment as the government was led by a party which won majority votes (in Parliaments). However, we should give it a try. In the democratic system, if the majority party can't rule, the minority party is allowed to take the lead. I don't think that the private sector community would be criticised if old faces return, as we're sure that our proposal is neutral," he said.
