Somchai: I have finished my duties

Smiling Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat said on Tuesday he acknowledged the Constitution Court ruling and it meant he had finished his duties.

"No problem. Now the matter belongs to those who still continue their duties. I have done every thing not for my own interest,'' he said.

No-1 Deputy Prime Minister Chaovarat Chanweerakul will become caretaker prime minister pending a meeting of the caretaker Cabinet, PM's Office Ministers Sukhumpong Ngonkham said Tuesday.

He said the caretaker Cabinet would make a former decision as to who should be caretaker prime minister replacing disqualified Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.

A source said 13 members of the Somchai Cabinet who are party executive members of the three parties would be disqualified immediately after the Constitution Court ruling. 21 Cabinet members who remain in office can call a meeting to select a minister to be caretaker Prime Minister till a new Cabinet is appointed.
