Suachana Sudcharoen, director of Phra Nakhon district, said yesterday that Rajabophit, Wat Tritosathep, Wat Prachetuphon, Wat Makutkasat, Wat Mahan, Wat Mahathat, Wat Radchanadda, Wat Rajburana, Wat Suthat, Wat Mai Amataros and Wat Intharawiharn schools would suspend classes one day for the safety of students and teachers.
The district would assess the situation daily and consider announcing further school closings.
City clerk Pongsak Sensant said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration had not given permission to the DAAD to use the plaza in front of City Hall, but since the government supporters had arrived and occupied the area, it would have to allow them to hold the rally.
However, the demonstrators must not make loud noises and disturb monks in the temples and people working in offices around the rally site.
