AIRPORT CRISIS

Still no flights to Bangkok

Manila - Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific on Friday said their flights to and from Bangkok continue to be suspended due to the closure of Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

In a text message, PAL spokesman Rolando Estabillo said decisions regarding PAL's Manila-Bangkok route are being made every day. "We monitor developments on a daily basis," he said.

However, Cebu Pacific has cancelled all their flights to Bangkok and the corresponding return flights until December 3, 2008.

"For more information on flight schedules and availability, passengers may call our reservations at (632) 70-20-888 and (6232) 320-88-88," Cebu Pacific said.

The airline company owned by the Gokongwei family also confirmed the report by Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Antonio Rodriguez that the Thai government is shouldering food and board costs for stranded foreign tourists in Thailand.

"The Tourism Authority of Thailand is providing free hotel accommodation with breakfast to all stranded passengers returning to the Philippines. For more information on this, please contact: (632) 911-1660," Cebu Pacific said.
