Youngsters think nothing of spending eight hours a day on the computer, a survey revealed yesterday.

Youngsters think nothing of spending eight hours a day on the computer, a survey revealed yesterday.

Datchaneeporn Prukwattananon, marketing manager of Intel Micro Electronics (Thailand), said that 4,000 people aged 16-30 did the company's online survey on the "wireless Thai lifestyle" at www.Sanook.com.

Most said they spent three to eight hours a day on the computer, with about 33 per cent carrying computer notebooks around to indulge their habit in Internet cafes and wi-fi hotspots. The findings will help the company set its youth-friendly strategy for next year, says Datchaneeporn.

Meanwhile Sanook Online Marketing vice president Kasamart Neerapatama shared news of a 40-per-cent growth in the number of online ads at www.Sanook.com, which gets two million hits per day. He added that website www.Hi5.com is also seeing more ads, with businesses eager to reach the 4.5 million who visit each day, a number that is rapidly growing.
