Trend Micro announced that the company was ranked first in the 2008 Taiwan "Top 10 Global Brands" survey for the fifth time since 2003.
According to the survey conducted by the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and global brand consultancy Interbrand, Trend Micro, with an estimated brand value of US$1.326 billion, has the highest global brand value in Taiwan. The company's total brand value grew 16 percent from 2007 to 2008.
Brand value, which reflects the financial benefits of preference for a particular company's products or services, has been recognized as increasingly important in today's competitive global economy, and is one of a company's most valuable assets. Brand strength often influences purchasing decisions of customers based on the trustworthiness of a company.
The annual Taiwan "Top 10 Global Brands" award evaluates companies based on financial analysis, revenue rankings, and brand and profit rankings.
"We are honored to have been awarded this extremely important indicator of brand value, especially as we celebrate our 20th anniversary later this year," said Eva Chen, CEO and co-founder of Trend Micro.
"The increasing strength of Trend Micro's brand reflects the trust we have earned from our customers for consistently delivering innovative products, services, and support that meet or exceed their expectations."
Since 1988, Trend Micro has been advancing integrated threat management technology to protect operational continuity, personal information, and property from malware, spam, data leaks and the newest Web threats.
Most recently, the company has been recognized as a security leader in cloud-client technology by introducing new developments that enable security to be integrated within in-the-cloud applications, data centers, delivery systems and endpoints. Earlier this year, the company announced the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network, a unique, next-generation cloud-client content security infrastructure designed to protect customers from Web threats including data-stealing malware. The Trend Micro Smart Protection Network powers Trend Micro's products and services as well as those of its strategic partners.
The announcement marked a new phase in Web threat protection - enabling Trend Micro to stop threats in the cloud, before they reach the network or endpoint.
