Nectec director Pansak Siriruchatapong said the collaboration aims to enable technology transfer between the two organisations to develop human resources, tools and equipment, and generate funding for the growth of local software and digital-content.
"This is a pilot project where a couple of government agencies are working together to support software developers and entrepreneurs in the industry," Pansak said.
SIPA president Rungruang Limchoopatipa said, in the first step, the agency will link R&D to its practical implementation in the market. This will give a boost to the software industry and promote the country's development.
The agencies will set up a Digital Content Creation Centre (D3C), which will serve as a development centre that will allow developers and businesses to test their software, such as multimedia and e-file applications. The centre will also provide training on professional skills.
Nectec will be responsible for developing the tools and establishing standards for digital-content so that developers can create standardised products. Meanwhile, Sipa will serve as a marketing arm for businesses and help promote their products.
