Metropolitan Police will get tough on drivers of vehicles with no licence plates and punish them with the maximum fine of Bt1,000.
City deputy police chief MajGeneral Panu Kerdlarppol said he had instructed officers at the Traffic Police Division and at 88 police stations to set up checkpoints for lawbreaking drivers, especially those with no licence plates.
He urged them to arrest and fine violators the maximum fine of Bt1,000 because this offence had occurred often and the vehicles were also used as criminals' means of escape.
