Suspect Petch (not his real name) alerted police at around midnight yesterday about the secondgrader's body being spotted near Wat Sattahip.
Initial autopsy found she had been raped and strangled. The rapist's hair and semen were also collected from the body.
Petch reportedly confessed that he saw the girl walking out of a public toilet near the temple at 9.30pm on Wednesday. High on yaba and sexually aroused, the boy lured the girl to an isolated spot where he squeezed her neck until she fainted before raping her. The girl later became conscious and, fearing she would tell police, he killed her.
He then alerted police to cover up.
The victim's mother said the girl, who had been helping her sell food, asked to go on a toilet run alone at about 9pm but disappeared. Sattahip police superintendent Colonel Supathi Boonkhrong said investigation found the boy had committed many crimes before. But, his name was not recorded anywhere, so police suspect the boy may be lying.
