Standard to keep lead out of pots
The Thai Industrial Standards Institute is prepared to launch an industrial standard that will bar lead in the manufacturing of all stainlesssteel pots, locally produced or imported.
Phairoj Sanyadechakul, secre¬tarygeneral of the institute, admitted small and mediumsized manufacturers would be briefly affected in the first few months, but the standard will help block the entry of cheap and substandard products.

Public debt falls Bt1.2 bn in May
The public debt as of May stood at Bt3.4 trillion, or 36.1 per cent of gross domestic product, according to the Public Debt Management Office.
Compared to April, the public debt was down by Bt1.2 billion. While financial state enterprises and the Financial Institutions Development Fund's loans dropped month on month, the government's direct loans as well as loans to nonfinancial state enterprises rose. - The Nation

CMK Corp will begin Thai pro¬duction of buildup circuit boards this autumn in response to growing demand from manu¬facturers of flatpanel televi¬sions and digital cameras, Nikkei reported.
CMK will invest about ¥3.5 bil¬lion (Bt1.09 billion) in the plant to install new equipment and build a dedicated production line for buildup circuit boards.
