UN boss is worried about the Thai-Cambodia border dispute

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is closely following the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia.

He is concerned about what he called the current escalation of tensions between the countries, according to the UN website.

He called both sides for restraints and hoped that this matter can be resolved peacefully and by diplomatic means with regards to the bilateral excellent relations.

Meanwhile UN has agreed to Cambodia's request to convene a meeting on the border dispute between both countries on July 28.

A bilateral special meeting on Monday in Sa Kaew province failed to bring any breakthrough of the military standoff near the temple.
