
Trade surplus in the month totalled $628 million, according to Commerce Permanent Secretary Siripol Yodmuangcharoen. The surplus could have been higher but for the soaring oil prices in the month, which boosted energy import bills by 66.4 per cent year on year.
Export value in the first six months of this year is $87.2 billion, up 23.1 per cent year on year. Against imports of $88.28 billion in the same period, up 33.6 per cent, Thailand registered a trade deficit of $1.07 billion.
