GS Yuasa to produce forklift batteries

GS Yuasa announced plans to produce batteries for forklifts at a Thai plant to be operated jointly with a local auto-maker, Nikkei reported. 

The facility is scheduled to go online next spring with an initial capacity of roughly 200,000 units. Output will be increased to 400,000 units by fiscal 2013, or enough to supply about 16,000 forklifts. GS Yuasa currently holds slightly under a 30 per cent share of the market in SE Asia and Oceania, but hopes to raise that to 40 per cent.

GS Yuasa Siam Industry will build the 500 million yen (Bt157 million) plant in Chachoengsao. GS Yuasa International owns 60 per cent of the joint venture with Siam Motors. - The Nation

Company meetings 'getting better'

Most listed companies have shown improvement in the quality of their shareholder meetings, with 380 of a  total 486 companies awarded "Good" grades. The figure 380 is against 225 last year, says the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In the third year, the improvement programme saw 90 of the 97 companies in the SET 100 group scored over 80 points. Nearly 80 per cent of all listed companies scored over 70 points, against 52 per cent in the previous year. - The Nation
