Jakrapob apologises to Kraisak

Former PM's Office minister Jakrapob Penkair agreed to apologise to Kraisak Choonhavan for alleging that Kraisak was drunk and shouted at progovernment protesters during a demonstration in 2007.

The apology ended the defamation suit filed by Kraisak against Jakrapob, People Power Party MP Chatuporn Prompan and Ekraporn Rakkwamsuk, a pro-government leader.

The group said in a press conference in June 2007 that Kraisak, then a senator, was drunk when he confronted the progovernment protesters. They also said that Kraisak, now a Democrat MP, yelled and cursed the protesters and threw soft drink cans at them on June 10, 2007.

Jakrapob and Chatuporn apologised to Kraisak before the court on Monday. They will also explain what they called the misunderstanding in a PTV programme on July 16 from 7.30am to 9am.

Kraisak said he accepted the apology and would wait to hear their explanation on July 16 before withdrawing the suit.

Jakrapob resigned as a PM's Office minister when police earlier pressed charges against him for lese majeste.
