Surapong: Anti-recession measures will not affect coffer

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee on Monday ensured that the short term measures to be launched to prevent the country from plunging into a recession will not adversely affect the country's coffer.

Surapong expressed concern over the impact of the skyrocketing oil price to the economy in the later half of the year. He said the government must bring up the measures to restore the economy sooner than earlier scheduled to boost investors' confidence and prevent the economy from slipping into a recession.

The measures which will include tax reductions on oil and distributing coupons to the poor will be broadcast live after the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
