PAD takes legal action against Cabinet and Thaksin

The People's Alliance for Democracy on Monday filed a petition with the National Counter Corruption Commission to take a criminal action against the Samak Cabinet for malfeasance and dereliction of duty in endorsing the joint communiqué to help Cambodia list Preah Vihear Temple as a World Heritage site.

The five PAD leaders accused all Cabinet members and officials involved or being the masterminds including former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra for causing the country to lose sovereignty over the Preah Vihear Temple controversy .

The PAD resorts to the NCCC as another legal venue to stop the Samak government from carrying duties as the NCCC law stipulates that accused officials must immediately cease duties if the NCCC investigative panel finds that there are grounds to believe that they have committed wrongdoings.

The PAD accused 41 people in its petition including 34 Cabinet members, four Foreign Ministry officials and two military officials.
