WHAT'S EXPECTED THIS WEEK

Rosana seeks action against Noppadon

Bangkok Senator Rosana Tositrakul will today file a petition with the National Counter Corruption Commission using Article 275 of the Constitution to take legal action against Noppadon Patama for endorsing a joint communique to back Cambodia's bid to list Preah Vihear as a Unesco World Heritage site.

The senator accuses the former foreign minister, whose resignation takes effect today, of violating Article 119 of the Criminal law for causing the country to lose sovereignty over the matter.

Meanwhile, the Democrat Party this week will file a petition seeking impeachment of  Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and those involved in issuing the Cabinet resolutions to back the joint communique.

BMA graft report

Pongsak Semsan is expected to pass on information about the bribery allegation in the Bt125-million Klong Saen Saeb water-tunnel project to Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin tomorrow.

{Pongsak also has to get information from the Japanese Embassy and the Foreign Ministry about Nishimatsu Construction whose former executive is being investigated by the Tokyo district public prosecutors. He has admitted bribing Thai officials for a Bt2-billion tunnel project in 2003.

Asset-freeze move

The National Counter Corruption Commission will meet tomorrow to decide on whether it has the right to freeze Bt69 billion in assets of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The decision will be reached after NCCC commissioner Vichai Vivitsewee expressed doubt if the NCCC had the authority as the agency has less authority than the now-defunct Assets Examination Committee.
