Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee insisted that the measures which would involve a number of ministries Finance, Transport and Energy would not affect the Kingdom's fiscal position. Details of the measures would be announced after the Cabinet's consideration.
One of them is the proposed cut of excise tax on gasohol E85 to 50 satang per litre from Bt2.58. The coupon for the poor, which has been studied for three weeks, would also be tabled at the meeting.
Surapong noted that the measures would help relieve the public burden from high oil prices.
"The measures would be comprehensive with cooperation from several ministries. They would be powerful, particularly to convince the public of lower burden. Our target are the low income earners, but that does not mean that those in other income groups would be left out as some are benefiting people in general," Surapong said.
