Sumeth cited Article 98 of the Political Party Act, saying his interpretation of the law was such that other party executives should not be banned as long as there was no proof of their involvement in or awareness of Yongyuth's actions.
"I urge [others] to assist in deciding on the issue and review whether the electoral law and the Political Party Act are in contradiction with each other [on this matter]," he said.
The EC member said he was ready to hold a snap election in Chiang Rai's District 3, where Yongyuth committed electoral fraud.
He is also in favour of a nationwide election in the event the
House is dissolved.

The recommendation would go via the Office of the Attorney-General.
