Law Society threatens to sue Govt over Preah Vihear

The government might face the criminal charge for lapse of duty if it tries to drag its feet in informing the 21-member World Heritage Committee about the injunction on the Preah Vihear Temple, Law Society of Thailand said on Friday.

The society cast suspicion why the government appears slow to alert the committee.

Earlier Friday, Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama said he plans to request for a postponement of the listing of Preah Vihear Temple as World Heritage site.

"Thailand is not in the position to support the listing at this juncture," he said.

Noppadon is scheduled to fly to Quebec tonight to attend the World Heritage Committee session.

He spoke before testifying at the Constitution Court on the legal issues relating to the temple.
