Air Phoenix suspends route over fuel costs

Domestic airline Air Phoenix has suspended its Nakhon Ratchasima-Bangkok route as a result of rising costs.

Chairman Jiradech Anupawatham yesterday said the company would consider resuming operations once the oil-price situation stabilised.

"We'll revise our strategy. If we'd continued operations, we'd have had to shoulder an additional 40 per cent in operating costs, due to the oil-price hike," he said.

Air Phoenix began the Nakhon Ratchasima-Bangkok service in early May. It was the carrier's only route.
