Domenech stays on as France coach
Published on July 3, 2008Paris - Raymond Domenech is to remain as France coach despite the team's early exit from Euro 2008, the French Football Federation (FFF) said Thursday.
Domenech, 56, will continue to lead the team to the 2010 World Cup.
Domenech had faced heavy domestic criticism after France went out of the group stage at Euro 2008 with two defeats and a draw.
Just two years after reaching the World Cup final in Germany, the French had been expected to do well at the Euro tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
However they were beaten 4-1 by the Netherlands after drawing their their opening game against Romania 0-0. Their early exit was then sealed by a 2-0 defeat by world champions Italy.
