THAI staffs rally against reinstate President Apinan

Thai Airways International staffs rally at their headquarter on Friday against THAI board's decision to reinstate Apinan Sumanaseni as the company's president after having demoted him just hours before.

THAI's board on Thursday afternoon decided to demote Apinan to oversee only managerial tasks and appointed executive vice president Norahat Phloiyabut as co-president.

However it reversed the decision later in the evening at the intervention of THAI chairman Chaisawat Kittipornpai-boon. Chaisawat is also Permanent Secretary to Transportation.

The protest is led by the THAI labour union.

One of the protesters said that the demotion was the right decision but Chaisawasd intervened the decision. The staffs wanted to see Chaisawat holds a meeting of the board members immediately to explain the incident.

The representative said it is true that Apinan has caused divisions among the staffs.

Meanwhile the board will hold a meeting at 3pm to discuss the chairman's decision to overturn the demotion of Apinan.

"If the board doesn't agree with my decision, I am willing to take responsibility," said THAI chairman Chaisawat.
