Thaksin's defence lawyer denies involving police to harass graft busters

Lawyer Pichit Chuenban on Friday dismissed the speculation that he was invoking the legal proceedings by police to intimidate graft busters in charge of investigating his client and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Pichit conceded, however, that he wanted the graft busters to experience the same ordeal of being suspected wrongdoers as what Thaksin had gone through.

In recent days, police have summoned 11 members of the Assets Examination Committee for questioning and issued an arrest warrant against a senior justice official Sunai Manomai-udom.

Pichit said he was responsible for a defamation complaint against Sunai. He was also behind the complaint on the AEC mandate. In both cases, police were oblige to enforce the criminal procedures as charges were filed against Sunai and AEC members as individuals and not their office, he said.
