SCB already provides the ATM payment service for Nok Air and Thai AirAsia.
Kasikornbank also allows its customers to pay for Nok Air tickets via its ATMs and is currently offering a Bt4,000 discount until June 30 on a Hanoi package tour paid by ATM.
To use SCB's ATM service, customers must first make a flight reservation by calling THAI's Contact Centre at (02) 356 1111 or pointing their browser to www.thaiairways.com/rop.
Then the customer informs the airline that payment will be made via an SCB ATM. The customer will be sent an SMS with a 12-digit pay code for reference in making the payment transaction via ATM.
The customer also needs to leave a phone number while making the transaction.
The customer must keep the ATM receipt to claim the ticket at THAI's check-in counter.
Charamporn Jotikasthira, SCB's senior executive vice president and chief information officer, yesterday said customers could use the ATM to pay for other people's tickets.
This service will also be added to SCB's Internet banking later this year.
"I believe this service will receive a good response, because customers can save on the cost of transportation. There are more people using Internet banking in this period of high oil prices. In 2007, there were 30 million bill-payment transactions over the Internet, worth Bt1.3 trillion," he said.
