More senators withdraw from charter motion

Twenty senators and two MPs have withdrawn their names from the motion seeking to amend the Constitution, secretarygeneral of the House said Tuesday.

Phithoon Phumhiran said the motion was now supported by 134 MPs and senators after the 20 senators and two MPs withdrew their support.

He said those who sponsored the motion could still withdraw their name before the motion is put on the Parliament agenda.

He said it would be up to Parliament President and House Speaker Chai Chidchob to decide whether to put the motion on the agenda during the extraordinary session of Parliament next month.
