Referendum on charter rewrite hinges on legislative cooperation: Sodsri

It is possible for the EC to use the suspended 1998 referendum legislation as model to enable the drafting of the new bill to complete by next month, Sodsri said.

Before the referendum was held on the 2007 Constitution, the National Legislative Assembly passed the draft bill within one session and the House should follow such precedent, she said.

She voiced optimism that the referendum would ease the tension stirred up by proponents and opponents of the charter.
