Constitution Court president to be elected on Thursday

Nine designated-judges of the Constitution Court will meet on Thursday to cast a peer vote to elect the court president, a required procedure ahead of the issuing of the royal command for the judicial appointment.

Three top contenders for the position are Charan Pakdithanakul, Wasant Soipisut and Supoj Khaimook

After activating the high court since the 2006 coup, its first judicial review is expected to be the legal status of the Assets Examination Committee, the anti-graft agency set up to deal with cases involving former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
