
According to data compiled by Tri Petch Isuzu Sales, 54,479 vehicles were sold in the month, a 17.59-per-cent drop from March when the motor show was held at Bitec. The fall was attributed to the long holiday.
However, throughout the first four months of the year, domestic sales were 215,264 units, a 14.55-per-cent increase from the same period last year.
Toyota sold 89,693 vehicles, or 41.67 per cent. Following were Isuzu, which sold 48,719 units or 22.63 per cent, and Honda with 27,641 units or 12.84 per cent.
In April, dealers witnessed an 11.83-per-cent drop in the sale of one-tonne pickups compared to the previous month. In total, 33,419 units were sold in the month. The top three best-selling brands were Toyota, Isuzu and Nissan, with respective market shares of 39.43 per cent, 36.35 per cent and 11.25 per cent.
In the four-month period, 123,317 one-tonne pickup trucks were sold, up 7.7 per cent from the same period last year. Toyota, Isuzu and Nissan led the market with shares of 38.74 per cent, 36.96 per cent and 8.68 per cent, respectively.
In the passenger-car segment, April sales plunged 27.26 per cent from March. However, in the first four months, the sale of 67,618 units was a 32.44-per-cent increase from the same period last year. Toyota led the market with a share of 48.69 per cent, followed by Honda and Chevrolet with respective shares of 34.69 per cent and 5 per cent.
